CHENEY’S STRONG DEBATE SHOWING PUTS HER AT TOP OF THE PACK FOR ILLINOIS’ 6TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

Naperville, IL – During this evening’s 6th District Democratic primary forum, hosted by The Coalition for a Better Illinois 6th and the Glenbard North High School Civics Club, Carole Cheney demonstrated her succinct understanding of complex issues and laid out her vision to defeat the Trump-Roskam agenda. This vision focused on how to get Congress working once again for 6th District families, separating her from the pack as the most qualified candidate to beat Peter Roskam next fall.

“We are facing a threat not just in Illinois’ 6th Congressional District but to families and working men and women across our country,” said Carole Cheney, following The Coalition for a Better 6th Democratic candidate forum. “Donald Trump and Peter Roskam’s dangerous agenda puts everyone in our community at risk. With my combination of corporate experience and public service, I have the tools our district desperately needs to beat back these attacks on the middle-class and get Congress working for us again.

“The Republican plan is to break our country’s commitment to the middle-class: affording the opportunity for every family to live the American Dream. Instead, Donald Trump and Peter Roskam plan to empower the corporate and special interests that fund their campaigns, allowing them to flourish while the rest of us get left behind.

“We need a member of Congress that will meet the demands of our community, our local businesses and our residents—not someone whose highest priorities are the needs of their donors and special interests. We need a representative who has walked the same path as other members of our community. We need a representative who has paid their own way, understands the struggles we face and is willing to work hard to succeed. Most importantly, we need a representative who is experienced and willing to hear the concerns of every constituent and be a voice for our values in Congress. From my experience as a corporate attorney to my service in Congressman Bill Foster’s office, I’m ready to step up and fight for my neighbors across the 6th Congressional District.”

Carole Cheney served as District Chief of Staff to Illinois 11th District from 2013 until 2017. During that time, she focused on delivering for the residents of the district – from making sure seniors received help in navigating the social security system, to helping return millions of tax dollars back to the district so that it could be reinvested into the community, and ensuring that the congressional doors would always be open so constituents could voice their concerns and be heard.
